What differs it from the isn't just the silver bezel and buttons colour (as opposed to black) but that it's not transmitter capable, nor does it have a digital compass. Neither of the Tern models have OC mixed gas technical and CCR modes as do the , Teric and .

Both the Tern & Tern TX are depth rated to 120 metres and tested to engineering EN standards for dive computer compliance. They both support Air, Nitrox, 3 Gas Nitrox, Gauge, and Freedive modes and can log 500 hours of dives with a battery life of 20 hours with dive mode on.
